SPAR - this is the largest International union of independent retailers from different countries working together under the SPAR brand to provide a high level of service, optimal price-quality ratio for their customers. The constant exchange of experience, innovations and advanced technologies ensures the competitiveness of each partner.
For buyers SPAR - this is a wide range of high-quality and fresh products, European standards of service, individual approach to each client, comfort and coziness in each store.
The history of SPAR began in 1932 in the Netherlands. Earlier this year, DESPAR was founded by Adriaan van Vell as a voluntary grocer's chain with the aim of ensuring cooperation between independent wholesalers and retailers in response to the emergence of large retail chains in Europe. The name of the chain of stores was made up of the first letters of the organization's slogan: "Door Eendrachtig Samenwerken Profiteren Allen Regelmatig", which means"everyone benefits from cooperation". The spruce tree has become a symbol of the retail chain, as the word "SPAR"means"Christmas tree" in Dutch.
Thanks to the concept of high-quality and fresh products that were sold in the chain's stores, SPAR became an international supermarket chain in the late 1940s. In 1947, the first store was opened in Belgium, and the company "DESPAR" began to wear the proud "SPAR".
Today, SPAR is the world's largest chain of convenience stores, supermarkets and hypermarkets.
SPAR has more than 12,300 stores, 85 years of experience in 42 countries on 4 continents, with more than 200,000 employees providing cutting-edge service to 13 million customers every day. The annual turnover of the SPAR network is more than 32 billion euros.
In 2017, Ukraine joined the international SPAR network. On January 24, in Kiev, SPAR Ukraine Corporation, part of the VolWest Group investment group, and Spar International signed a cooperation agreement. The subject of bilateral agreements was the development of the international SPAR network in the Ukrainian market.
SPAR in Ukraine will be developed in 4 trade formats: Spar Express (shops near the house with a retail area of up to 200 sq. m), Spar (supermarkets of 200-800 sq. m), EuroSpar (supermarkets of 800-3000 sq.m), InterSpar (hypermarkets of more than 3000 sq. m).
SPAR Ukraine Corporation intends to open its first supermarket in Rovno within the next few months.
According to the company's CEO Sergey Shavlukevich, the investment group plans to open 15 stores by the end of 2017 in the near future.
The strategic plans of the investment group "VolWest Group" include dynamic development and expansion of the network to 50 retail establishments within 3 years by opening its own and franchised SPAR stores.
